Holiday Update

Hello and Happy New Year!

We had a wonderful holiday season, but we are all glad to be back to our old routine now!

The kids got a bunch of new toys, so thank you to all the aunts and uncles and grandparents. Mommy and Daddy were kind of lazy and cheap this year because of the big Christmas trip and we only bought them a few books and 1 toy each.

I think it’s safe to say that the best toy they received  was a large Melissa and Doug Construction Site Floor Puzzle. They do this puzzle several times a day, and even Mr. 1 likes to help out and can put a few of the pieces together with some guidance (See the red stripes? Put them next to the other red stripes!)

They also got a few Lego Duplo sets that they can mix and match… all of them were some sort of truck so they have been having lots of fun with those.

The toy I bought for Mr. 1 was a mat that you draw on with water pens. He likes it a lot and comes back to it several times a day, but I am a little disappointed with the quality. The water pens drip a lot so all the pictures smudge and the mat doesn’t dry very well. Even hours later there are still water marks on it. 😦

Being away from home for a while, the boy missed all of their old toys and they definitely missed doing art. They have both been very into coloring, decorating with stickers, and have even asked to paint.

I’m glad that they are so happy to play inside, because it is still very cold outside. Thankfully it hasn’t been raining very much, but it takes a while for the days temperature to reach 40.

We did go outside yesterday at Daddy’s insistence, but it only lasted 30 minutes before everyone decided they were too cold.

I hope that you and your family had a nice holiday season, and we wish you a very merry Happy New Year!!

Hooray for Holidays

Good Evening!

I don’t know about you, but I have literally gained 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I told my doctor she didn’t have to worry about my previous unsatisfactory weight gain; I knew the holidays would get me on track.

The problem with gaining the weight so quickly is it adds to my physical discomfort.

I didn’t think I was being extra unhealthy, but after a 7-day cruise and 2 Christmas dinners…man, oh man.

Only Half Way Through

Hello! We are only about half way through the day. I just woke up from my nap but neither the cat or the three year old has found me… I’m hiding under the blanket!

It’s been an interesting day so far! Mr. 3 has only asked for his Kindle once and was distracted before he could find it. In fact, the first thing he went to do this morning was play with the Big Train.

When the track fell apart and the train crashed I announced it was time for breakfast. Mr. 3 asked for a honey sandwich. We’ve never had that for breakfast before but it sounded good to me!

Then I said I wanted to decorate paper Christmas trees and hang them on the window.

Mr. 3 practiced cutting with scissors the whole time. When Mr. 1 started willfully ignoring my directions to not color on the table, please, I decided they were done. They spent more time with the train. Mr. 1 was pretending to be a crane and loaded and unloaded the cargo repeatedly while making crane noises.Every time I turned my back, the train would wreck or derail!

Mr. 1 learned to say “Gondola” and then later he also said “peanut butter” when it was lunch time. Then we vacuumed and I tried to clean the bathroom. In the middle of cleaning the toilet Mr. 3 announces he has to poop. And out of no where comes a sudden independence and he refuses to let me help him wipe. Of course he doesn’t know how to tell me this and instead he runs away from me and sits down on his poopy butt and smears it all over his feet. 30 minutes of wiping later he is finally clean. He went through a lot of toilet paper and some number of baby wipes. (It was frustrating to just watch!!)He also did not want help putting on his clothes. After that fiasco it was nap time for Mr. 1 and me. Thank goodness!Oh! Mr. 3 just caught me, I better go!
